The Vietnam Business Forum ("VBF") is an annual conference that plays an important role as a platform for conducting continuous policy dialogue between the Government and the business community with the aim of cultivating a conducive business environment and promoting sustainable economic development in Vietnam through direct dialogue and discussions between business representative organizations and businesses state management agencies. Most importantly, the VBF Annual Forum is held annually.

The Vietnam Business Forum 2024 ("VBF 2024") is organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). In this year, HM&P is proud to be one of the sponsors accompanying VBF 2024.

On the morning of 19/03, representatives of HM&P, Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc and Lawyer Nguyen Nhat Duong were present in Hanoi to participate in the Prime Minister's Conference with the FDI Business Community and the annual Vietnam Business Forum, with the theme "FDI enterprises pioneer in implementing green growth strategies".

Speaking at the opening of the event, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said: "2023 is a year of many difficulties and challenges, the world context fluctuates rapidly, complexly, unpredictably, strongly affecting all economies. The achievements of Vietnam's economy in recent years have been contributed to by foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs), which is an important growth component that be encouraged and facilitated for long-term development and healthy competition with other economic sectors."

Mr. Nitin Kapoor, Co-Chairman of VBF said at the conference: "Since the pandemic, businesses have been accelerating and Vietnam has been recognised as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The theme of green growth is to ensure the health of the planet, the wellbeing of the community, and building more sustainable businesses."

President Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr. Pham Tan Cong said: "In the context of general difficulties in 2023, Vietnam's positive economic achievements are very meaningful. Another important mark for Vietnam in foreign affairs is that it has upgraded its relations with the United States, China, Japan and recently Australia, which are all major powers and important global markets. Vietnam continues to affirm itself as an attractive and safe destination for investors."
After listening to all opinions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the contributions of the delegates and made important speeches. According to the Prime Minister: "We have confidence in FDI enterprises. The second belief is that Vietnam has diplomatic relations with more than 193 countries, including comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with all 5 Permanent UN Security Council countries, 7 G7 members, 16 G20 members; signed 16 FTAs with more than 60 countries. Third, we have faith in unity and unity in the Party, in the political system, in the people, in national unity, international solidarity. The fourth is that the belief in the traditions of the nation is more pressured, the more effort it makes. The fifth belief is the efforts of businesses, people and the State to overcome difficulties and challenges".

At the same time, in his speech at the conference, the Prime Minister called on FDI enterprises and foreign investors to accompany Vietnam in implementing green transformation and sustainable development with the spirit of "Three pioneers":
First, pioneering in awareness, thinking and action, innovating mindset, thinking and ways of working ongreen growth.
Second, pioneering in technology transfer, promoting development research and creative innovation to serve green growth.
Third, pioneering in the implementation of specific green growth projects, renewing traditional growth drivers and adding new growth drivers.
The Prime Minister proposed and hoped that FDI enterprises would continue to accompany and support Vietnam in terms of capital, institutions, technology, governance and human resource training.

At the conference, Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc and Lawyer Nguyen Nhat Duong listened to valuable sharing from participants, as well as relevant state management agencies. Thereby, HM&P has an overview of investment and business activities in Vietnam in 2023 and orientation in 2024. Besides, HM&P has grasped some of the needs and diffi culties of FDI enterprises and Vietnamese enterprises, contributing to improving the quality of our legal services.

On the sidelines of the conference, Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc had the opportunity to discuss the incomplete legal framework for Vietnam's rooftop power projects with Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., a topic that Sam Sung Vietnam is also very interested in. In addition, HM&P's lawyers had the opportunity to discuss with Mr. Philipp Rösler, Former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany and Managing Director of Bosch Vietnam Mr. Dominik Meichle as well as other senior delegates. In addition, HM&P representatives also had a great opportunity to greet and exchange with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh about some important issues raised at the conference.
