    HM&P Participated In And Supported The Conference Of Trade And Investment Cooperation With Indian Enterprises In Dong Thap

    On 28-29 June 2023, received the invitation from Dong Thap Province People’s Committee, the lawyers of HM&P Law Firm (“HM&P”) participated in the Conference of Trade and Investment Cooperation between India and Dong Thap Province 2023.

    This was a grand and important conference within the 2023 series of events of cooperation and acceleration of trade and investment between India and Mekong River Delta provinces, jointly organized by the Consulate General of India and the People’s Committee of Dong Thap and Kien Giang Province. The conference was held in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province, with the participation of Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Le Quoc Phong; Secretary of Dong Thap Province and Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, Chairman of Dong Thap Province People’s Committee, along with 150 Indian enterprises and more than 100 enterprises from Mekong River Delta Provinces.

    At this conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, the Managing Partner of HM&P and Mr. Nguyen Nhat Duong, Lawyer of HM&P exchanged and provided initial support to the representatives of the Indian enterprises wishing to invest in Dong Thap in particular and Vietnam in general, as well as the wishes of the Indian enterprises to exchange in trade with Vietnamese enterprises. On the sideline, HM&P’s representatives also exchanged ideas with the Chairman of the Dong Thap Province People’s Committee on how to accelerate and attract foreign invesment in Dong Thap, based on HM&P’s experience in investment consulting and guidance.

    Dong Thap is now a province that is attracting a lot of attention from Indian enterprises and investors looking for investment opportunities in Vietnam. Its Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) ranking first in country for many consecutive years, many industrial zones, clusters with fully completed infrastructure waiting for enterprises to invest in, preferential policies, fast administrative procedures, and a system of waterway and land transport system convenient for transporting goods to the East Sea and other countries in the region are the advantages of Dong Thap compared to other provinces in the vicinity.

    In particular, Dong Thap has the largest quantity of rice and seafood in the country, and the province is focusing on developing manufacturing industries, this is truly an opportunity for Indian companies to invest in the production of agricultural-marine products in Vietnam for export. The two parties also have the potential to expand cooperation into other fields such as: textiles, IT, medicine...

    By participating in this conference, HM&P had the opportunity to introduce and consult Indian enterprises on the legal regulations and relevant procedures when investing in Dong Thap, along with the introduction of our publication Investing in Vietnam: Some typical obstacles so that the investors at the conference could research and refer to it before investing in Vietnam in general and in Dong Thap in particular. With the role of a legal consulting unit for businesses, HM&P vows to contribute, accelerate the cooperation between both parties, accompany and provide legal support to Indian enterprises investing in Dong Thap as well as other localities in Vietnam.
