    HM&P participates in exchanges with Hong Kong and Vietnamese companies and associations in the logistics sector

    Upon the invitation of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ho Chi Minh City Branch ("VCCI-HCM"), Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Managing Partner of HM&P attended the Exchange and Networking Session (Business Luncheon) with companies and associations from both Hong Kong and Vietnam on "Hong Kong as an International Logistics Hub - The best link in your global supply chains" at 12 noon on October 12. This is a formal event organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry HCMC Branch in cooperation with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore ("HKETO") and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council ("HKTDC").

    In addition to the organizers, there were also high-ranking Hong Kong officials such as Mr. Lam Sai-hung, Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Logistics and Chairman of HKTDC, Ms. Amy Chan, Deputy Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong, Mr. Owin Fung, Director of HKETO, and more than 20 companies from Hong Kong. On the Vietnamese side, the participating delegation included Mr. Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of VCCI, Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem, Director of VCCI-HCM, and more than 80 domestic enterprises and business associations.

    At the exchange, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of VCCI, affirmed: "Vietnam's logistics development potential is huge". According to the Logistics Efficiency Index Ranking published by the World Bank in 2023, Vietnam ranks 43rd and is among the top 5 countries in ASEAN in logistics efficiency index”.

    In addition, he said, Vietnam's economy has a high degree of openness and active international integration. Vietnam is constantly promoting international cooperation and strengthening ties with relevant enterprises, associations and agencies in the logistics industry in neighboring countries and regions, including Hong Kong.

    Currently, Hong Kong ranks 5th in Vietnam's export market. Cumulative FDI to 09/2023 will reach 31.34 billion USD. Meanwhile, Vietnam is the 2nd largest trading partner in the ASEAN region and the 7th largest in the world.

    Mr. Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong, also shared his views on strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong: "As the customs clearance gateway of Mainland China, we believe that the bilateral relations between the two places will continue to grow thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the development of the Guang Guang Greater Bay Area East-Hong Kong-Macau (GBA)".

    Attending the exchange, HM&P's representative, Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc, had the opportunity to listen to useful information about the current logistics situation and trade relations between Vietnam and Hong Kong. In particular, the problems, obstacles and legal barriers in investment activities in the logistics sector of Hong Kong investors as well as the problems of the thin legal corridor of Vietnam's logistics sector shared by enterprises operating in this field.
