HM&P participates in the seminar on “Corporate boards: inclusive and diverse development” in Hanoi

On March 5, 2025, Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc represented HM&P Law Firm (“HM&P”) at the seminar titled Corporate boards: inclusive and diverse development held in Hanoi. The event was co-organized by the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and the Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD), with technical support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO). The seminar attracted over 100 delegates, including female Chairpersons, Board Members, business leaders, and leading experts in corporate governance.

This seminar was a significant event in the field of corporate governance, focusing on the theme “Corporate boards: inclusive and diverse development.” The discussions emphasized the role of board diversity as a key factor in driving sustainable development.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Anh Phong, CEO of HNX, highly appreciated the efforts of various stakeholders, including VIOD, in promoting corporate governance, strengthening the Board of Directors' accountability, and enhancing diversity in terms of composition, age, gender, and experience.

During the seminar, Lawyer Phuc shared insights on the crucial role of corporate governance in ensuring transparency and board accountability. He highlighted: “For a business to achieve sustainable development, building a diverse Board of Directors should go beyond gender diversity to include diversity in experience, expertise, and strategic perspectives. Implementing mandatory ‘quota’ regulations requiring a minimum number of female board members could be an initial strategy worth considering in Vietnam.”
