Today's personal data is not only the private information of each individual, but also becomes the essential operating foundation of every organization and business. The protection of personal data has thus gone beyond a technical requirement, becoming a mandatory legal standard and a key factor in ensuring the reputation, safety and sustainability of business. In particular, when the Law on Personal Data Protection (PDP) in 2025 is passed and will take effect from January 1, 2026, the requirement to comply with the law in this field has become even more urgent for the business community. Accompanying businesses in preparing and implementing legal obligations, HM&P Law Firm ("HM&P") will release a new thematic publication titled "Legal Guidelines: Compliance with Personal Data Protection Law in Vietnam for Businesses".
The publication is compiled on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the Law on PDP 2025, Decree 13/2023/ND-CP, and the Draft Decree detailing a number of articles of the Law on PDP 2025. In addition to codifying the domestic legal framework, the document also compares with international experiences from Europe, the United States, and Singapore – countries and regions that are pioneers in building a legal corridor for PDP.
With a clear and practical approach, the publication focuses on the key contents that businesses need to pay attention to, including:
